Life and Practice in the Community of Faith
Baptism and Lord’s Supper
Sunday, January 7, 2024
Dr. Kelly B. Burton
There are two ordinances Christians embrace, Baptism and the Lord’s Supper. Rarely are we able to witness both on the same Sunday. God reminds us of His work by way of these two important ceremonies. Four words came to me as I studied this week: Initiation, Demonstration, Examination, and Invitation.
Sermon in a Sentence: Don’t forget the work of God. Baptism and the Lord’s Supper help you visualize your privilege in God’s Community.
Initiation
Acts 10:34-48: Entering the Community of Faith.
Demonstration
1 Co. 11:17-34: Exposing true believers from the false v19.
Examination
You and God, You and Your Church v28.
Invitation
“Maranatha.”
