Christ the Son Who Saves
Matthew 1:18-25
Sunday, December 24, 2023
Dr. Kelly B. Burton
In life some things happen in ways we never expect. I have often wondered in those awkward circumstances, “How will anything good come out of this?” I’m sure Mary and Joseph wondered the same thing. Could things have been any more awkward for this young couple in the first century? I think not. Yet Joseph’s remarkable character emerges as he is confronted by an angel and a prophet. God’s wisdom lobbies for unusual faith. Be a person of remarkable character.
Notice three expressions of God’s wisdom:
1:18-19 A Pregnancy by the Power of God
1:20-21 A Dream About the Love of God
1:22-25 A Prophet’s Declaration About the Plan of God
Sermon in a Sentence: God’s wisdom lobbies for unusual faith. Be a person of remarkable character.
