On the heels of another miracle, I pictured Joshua off by himself thinking and planning his next move. Jericho was another formidable obstacle between him and Canaan. Suddenly, but on perfect cue, a soldier appears in front of Joshua with his sword drawn, ready for battle. He is the commander of the army of God. The ground around him is declared as holy signifying to us that this man represents the presence of God. This has to be one of my favorite passages in the Bible because of the incredible comfort it brings to me. God is on your side! Answer His call to holiness.
A Commander Ready to Fight for You
His sword is drawn.
His army belongs to the Lord.
Joshua exhibits a commendable kind of fear.
