Psalm 34 is a masterpiece of Hebrew poetry. Each verse begins with a successive letter of the Hebrew alphabet (22 verses, 22 letters). The incident that put this Psalm in the Psalter is recorded in 1 Samuel 21:10-15. David experienced a great deliverance that day and wants everyone to experience what it was like. The Psalm is divided into Declarations in verses 1-10, and Directions in 11-22. Are you sitting down for this?
Sermon in a Sentence: There is nothing in this world that can separate you from the love of God. Come and see for yourself how good God is.
David’s Declarations:
1.When I vow to worship the LORD at all times, He enlarges my affections. 34:1-3
2.When I focus my life on the LORD, He changes me. 34:4-6
3.When I simply obey the LORD, He protects me. 34:7-10
David’s Instructions for success in life:
Fear God, get a grip on your tongue, and be a blessing to those around you. 34:11-14
